Propecia competitors – green tea

In the recent light of popular interest towards natural remedies and treatment options, many people have become aware of the potential use of green tea in stopping and reversing hair loss. This amazing product makes it way in more and more refreshing drinks and is said to bring a wide spectrum of benefits, starting with anti-oxidation effects to cancer development prevention and antibacterial action. The anti-oxidants contained in green tea also seem to be very beneficial for the scalp and the hair. Many specialists state that by incorporating green tea and products containing it into your regimen can help you with your hair loss problems. One of the most effective and beneficial antioxidant substances found in green tea is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Different studies undertaken by the Saitama Cancer Center Research Institute in Japan and Seoul National University College of Medicine report EGCG to stimulate hair growth that is otherwise affected by different circumstances (environmental, medical, etc.). Moreover, the Japanese group of researchers has found that green tea also contains substances that prevent the formation of Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF), a compound that is believed to be responsible for hair loss, arthritis and even cancer. The Korean group has applied EGCG to the hair follicles directly and the results were impressive: follicles treated with the substance have increased their growth rates and overall size.

The studies went further, involving human volunteers that agreed 10 percent EGCG green tea to be applied to their scalp. The results were the same - increased rates of hair growth that in some cases actually stop hair loss both in men and women. It was discovered that taking large amounts of green tea leads to accumulation of six hormone-binding globulin, a compound that binds to testosterone. When there's too much free testosterone in the body, it usually comes into contact with hair follicles and forms an androgen known as dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is responsible for what we know as male pattern hair loss, and drugs such as Propecia aim at decreasing the amount of this namely compound for treating hair loss in men. The very same result is achieved by drinking green tea in large amounts, which is a more natural solution than medications like Propecia. Moreover, specialists state that green tea is also beneficial for other scalp and skin conditions such as dermatitis, dandruff and psoriasis. The anti-inflammation and antibacterial properties of green tea help control and suppress these conditions and numerous nutritional compounds vitalize and moisturize the skin.

There's a wide selection of hair and scalp skin care products containing green tea and its derivatives. They will surely help improve the condition of your scalp, however they cannot substitute the effectiveness of actual green tea. Still, most shampoos and balsams also contain additional vitamins that enhance the effects of green tea and provide good results. Of course, it is up to you to decide whether to stick to green tea methods or use drugs like Propecia. But why not giving the natural way a try at first? Who knows, maybe by drinking two cups of green tea a day you will be able to stop and reverse hair loss, too?
